CANADA. Bank of Canada. 1000 Dollars, 1935. BC-19. English Text. PMG Very Fine 25.The 1935 $1000 note is the highest denomination in the 1935 series and features a portrait of Sir Wilfrid Laurier on the obverse. As the Bank of Canadas first $1,000 banknote, it was soon replaced by the 1937 series, and not surprisingly, it is very scarce in any grade. While the $500 denomination with English text had a much smaller print run and is the key denomination of the 1935 series, the $1000 remains very difficult to find, no doubt because of its immense purchasing power at the time of issue. The present example offers a strong appearance and except for some small margin tears and stray ink features good body to the paper and no major distractions that would not make it a welcome addition to any advanced Canadian collection. PMG Comments "Tears, Ink."From the Ken Barrett Collection.
