Obverse: France, seated, facing left, awarding a laurel wreath to a young man standing at left, an accompanying soldier with his right hand on the mans shoulder; accoutrements of sport and soldiery at lower right, and in the left background, indistinct building and landscape in the background, perimeter legend above; Reverse: Blank escutcheon superimposed on a sprig of laurel and of oak. Another medal linking sport as preparatory to military training and service as France and the rest of Europe foresaw the conflict that would be World War I. An attractive medal with satiny ochre surfaces.
