Ancient - Armenia. ARMENIA: SASANIAN: AR drachm (2.39g), NM, date obscured by strike, cf. Zeno-17577, very late issue, with the Sasanian bust simplified (as on some of the Arab-Armenian drachms), thus likely late 7th century, bold VF, RRR. This type was based on the standard drachm of Hormizd IV (579-590), with the mint name replaced by the denomination ZWZWN, the Aramaic word for the silver drachm, struck throughout much of the 7th century, later adopted by the Umayyads with a name or word added in Arabic (type A-E97).
