Henry VI, First Reign (1422-1461), Annulet Issue, Groat, 1422-1427, Calais, crowned bust facing, annulets at neck, rev. VILLA : CALISIE : long cross and trio of pellets in angles, 3.80g [58.6grns], 7h, m.m. pierced cross (North 1427; Spink 1836), a small fracture at 8 oclock, otherwise an unbelievably fulsome and uniform strike, beautifully and richly cabinet toned, a hint of doubling in legends otherwise superbly choice for this commonly encountered but ever problematic issue, good extremely fine and as true to mint state as a connoisseur is ever likely to encounter with this series, extremely rare as such!
