IhC AVTEM TRANSIENS PER MEDIV ILLORVM IBAT, double saltire stops, floriate cross, Rin panel at centre, trefoils, lion and crown in each angle, all within tressure, trefoils in spandrels, 7.71g [119.0grns], i.m. cross pattée (Doubleday 316, same obverse die; Schneider I, 158/-; Stewartby Ia; North 1305; Spink 1659), a spademarked, crimped and straightened field find with resultant stubble rash surfaces, otherwise on a full flan with residual lustre in recesses, the die-sinkers alteration to the Kings name pleasingly clear, and as identified by Stewartby the only known altered Calais Ia Noble of Richard II from the Post-Treaty obverse die, extremely rare thus
