1852-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 32-V. AU-55 (PCGS).Enticing orange-apricot highlights enliven a base of warmer honey-olive color. This is an attractively original example, one that is also lustrous, frosty, and well struck apart from typical softness at the borders and central high points. With the second highest mintage (91,584 pieces) among half eagles from this coinage facility, the 1852-D is one of the more frequently encountered Dahlonega Mint fives. Few survivors grade finer than EF, however, and with only a handful of Mint State coins extant this a significant offering of a lovely Choice AU example.PCGS# 8252.
