1878 Twenty-Cent Piece. Proof-65+ (PCGS). CAC.The counterpart to the Proof-only 1877 offered above, this 1878 twenty-cent piece also features richly original toning on expertly preserved surfaces. Here, both sides exhibit similar patination with iridescent undertones backlighting dominant steel-russet and copper-gray. Appreciably reflective in the fields with a crisp strike throughout the design.<p>The brief twenty-cent series passed into history in 1878 with a mintage of just 600 Proofs from the Philadelphia Mint.
