MEXICO. Durango. War of Independence. 8 Reales, 1821-D CG. Durango Mint. Ferdinand VII. PCGS AU-58. KM-111.2; Cal-1199; Ramirez-D8.11.2. Variety with Bust Type B and Crown Type B. Impressively well-produced for this normally crude issue, the well-centered strike delivers a bold portrait of the king along with crisp legends and reverse devices. The surfaces are toned to a wonderful mottled gray that allows the minty brilliance on the fields to peek out from beneath. A tiny planchet flaw on the obverse by the date is the only imperfection to note.
