MEXICO. Durango. War of Independence. 8 Reales, 1816-D MZ. Durango Mint. Ferdinand VII. PCGS VF-30. KM-111.2; Cal-1191; Ramirez-D8.6.1B. Variety with Small Bust and Crown Type B. A crudely produced Royalist issue exhibiting numerous casting bubbles including a pair of notable cavities on the obverse. The finer details of the bust and crowned arms are flat, but the devices are overall satisfyingly distinct and not overly worn from circulation. The surfaces are toned to an attractive graphite color. A nice example of this SCARCE type.
