MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Alexander III (the Great), 336-323 B.C. AR Drachm. NGC AU. HGC-3.1, 914. Early posthumous issue. Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and scepter. While this Drachm lacks any mintmarks or control marks, possibly due to the off-center reverse strike, it serves as an exceptionally attractive example. Struck from dies of fine style, the details remain crisp and original. The surfaces are bright and lustrous.
