GREAT BRITAIN. 5 Guineas, 1753 Year VICESIMO SEXTO. London Mint. George II. PCGS AU-55. S-3666; Fr-334; KM-586.2. Old laureate head. A subtle brilliance emanates from the surfaces of this delicately handled and rather uncommonly preserved 5 Guineas. Surpassed by only one example on the PCGS population report, such condition is a welcome change from the normal issues of the series. Very soft contact peppers the surface, but this friction is rather minor and not distracting from the overall appeal. Nicely struck and presenting only the faintest of wear on the high elements of the portraiture of George II. Supremely appealing, and certainly worthy of a strong bid from the advanced collector of British milled coinage. To view all items from the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection, click here. From the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection.
