1800 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. BB-188, B-8. Rarity-4. AU-50 (PCGS). An uncommonly high grade survivor from these challenging dies. Dressed in rich olive-gray patina, both sides are smooth in hand with plenty of mint luster shining forth as the surfaces dip into a light. Boldly to sharply defined overall with pretty reddish-gold and russet undertones providing further eye appeal. This obverse die is easily identified by the tiny die dot inside the lower part of the R in LIBERTY, and is shared by both the BB-188 and BB-189 varieties. BB-188 is one of the scarcer 1800 varieties and examples are especially difficult to locate in grades of EF and above. BB Die State IV. PCGS# 6887. NGC ID: 24X9. From the Madrone Collection.
