The front lists the four engagements at SHILOH / CORINTH / STONE RIVER / CHICAMAUGA [sic], while the back is inscribed on the three edges of the triangle: 41ST OHIO / 19TH BRIGADE / WM S. LOVEJOY. Gold hanger bar, unengraved, with pin.<p>William Lovejoy was born February 1, 1833, in Hillsboro, New Hampshire and was called to duty in June 1863. He served as a musician with the 41st Ohio Infantry and bandmaster with the 3rd Brigade, 3rd Division of the XXIV Corps. In 1860 he was living in Cleveland, Ohio with his first wife Christina, but by 1863 was living in Suffolk County, Massachusetts.<p>After the war, he returned to Massachusetts, and after the death of his first wife, married Harriet Ranloff in early June 1887, in Boston. He died on August 13, 1896, from diabetes in Reading, Massachusetts. The <em>Boston Herald</em> noted his passing with this article:<p><em>"DEATH OF WILLIAM LOVEJOY</em><p><em></em><em>"Mr. William Lovejoy, age 64, a veteran of the late war, and formerly a well-known restaurant keeper in this city, died yesterday morning at 8:15 oclock, at his home in Reading. He had been suffering from a combination of troubles for some time, and had been confined to his home by his illness.</em><p><em></em><em>"He served in the Hayes regiment, of which Maj. McKinley was a member, during the late war, and was bandmaster of the brigade to which the regiment was attached. He was a member of post 113 of this city.</em><p><em></em><em>"Just prior to his illness he was the night cashier and storekeeper at the Crawford House.
