1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 37-J, W-5140. Rarity-5+. No Sprig Above Plow, Goiter. Very Fine, Granular, Scratches. 165.59 grains. A deeply toned olive-copper example with a minor curved planchet clip at 1 oclock relative to the obverse, yet with a rather well centered and overall boldly executed strike. Rough and granular, wispy pin scratches in and around the central obverse are also noted. There are a fair number of examples of Maris 37-J in this grade, but not many better, and with plenty of detail and no singularly mentionable marks this piece has much to offer the astute New Jersey copper enthusiast. Collector envelope with attribution notation included.
