1855-NR Octagonal $1. BG-533. Rarity-4-. Liberty Head--Double Struck in Collar--MS-61 (PCGS). Pale golden-olive surfaces with glints of pinkish-rose iridescence. Evidence for the striking error is quite pronounced around the stars at left obverse and virtually all of the design elements on the reverse. Although underweight, this variety by Nouizillet & Routhier saw extensive commercial use in Gold Rush California, evidence of the scarcity of circulating currency on the West Coast during that era. From the Oregon Collection.
