The emblem on the $4 Continental notes show a Board Charting Spear with the motto AUT MORS AUT VITA DECORA, which Newman translates "Either death or an Honorable Life.) A gorgeous York Town with full sheet margins at the left end and bottom. A show piece on this lowest denomination note from the emission. This is one of the scarcest denominations from this scarcest Yorktown series, one which was heavily counterfeited by the British, resulting in many notes being recalled and destroyed. Due to the inflation of the scantily backed Continental Currency, this $4 denomination was the lowest issued for this series. Tied with one other at PMG for Top Pop. It should be mentioned that the other PMG Choice AU 58 EPQ sold for $3,760 back in 2015 and it cannot hold a candle to the quality of the present offering.
