1964-D Jefferson Nickel--Struck on a Cent Planchet--MS-63 RB (PCGS). A satiny and inviting piece with iridescent lilac, apricot and powder blue undertones to dominant copper-rose patina. The strike is flush to the right borders on both sides, the cent planchet too small to take the full design, thereby explaining the incomplete definition to the left peripheral devices. A scarce and desirable wrong planchet error from a time of great change in modern U.S. coinage history. From the George "Buddy" Byers Buckeye Collection. Earlier ex Heritages FUN Signature Auction of January 2016, lot 9626.
