1949-D/S Jefferson Nickel. FS-501. MS-66 FS (PCGS). Vivid reddish-apricot iridescence is a bit streaky on the obverse, smooth and even on the reverse. Both sides are fully lustrous with an impressively sharp strike and a billowy satin texture. Given that PCGS has awarded a Full Steps designation only eight times for 1949-D/S nickels, it is truly remarkable that the present collection contains two examples in that category. This Condition Census premium Gem is eagerly awaiting inclusion in another advanced Jefferson nickel set. From the George "Buddy" Byers Buckeye Collection. Earlier ex Heritages sale of the Compradore Collections, June 2008 Summer FUN Signature Auction, lot 566.
