1947-S Jefferson Nickel. MS-67 FS (PCGS). Wonderfully original surfaces exhibit reddish-gold peripheral toning to otherwise pearl-gray surfaces. Lustrous and smooth throughout with impressively full striking detail. When our consignor acquired this coin in May of 2007, it was one of only two 1947-S nickels certified as MS-67 by PCGS in both categories, and the only one in PCGS MS-67 FS. It was thus the first 1947-S to receive that top-of-the-pop (for the issue) grade from PCGS. It is a truly stunning example of both the type and issue that would serve as a highlight in the finest Set Registry collection. From the George "Buddy" Byers Buckeye Collection.
