GREAT BRITAIN. Derbyshire. Cromford. 4 Shillings 9 Pence, ND (ca. 1790s-1810). George III. PCGS AU-50 Gold Shield; Countermark: AU Details. KM-643. Issued by Arkwright & Co. mill owners and bankers, likely issued by Richard Arkwright. Countermark: "4/9" surrounded by "Cromford Derbyshire" within circular indent on a 1793-Mo FM 8 Reales of Charles IV (KM-109). A fairly SCARCE countermark, the host coin offers considerably more eye appeal and allure than is generally encountered for the type, with most hosts for this countermark being rather well handled. Robust overall with some charming radiance remaining.
