Imitating Bank of England type I countermark; counterfeit bust of George III within oval indent on a counterfeit 1792-So DA Chile 8 Reales of Charles IV. A highly unusual issue, this example is part of a series of imitations issued in Birmingham ca. 1797 in which a counterfeit host was created as well as counterfeit subsequent countermark. Some scattered marks are noted, but the overall detail and silver plating remains solid.
