1803 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. BB-255, B-6. Rarity-2. Large 3. VF-30 (PCGS). CAC. Deeply toned and original with olive-brown patina across both sides. The surfaces are nicely glossed and free of any distracting abrasions. An old mark is noted across the horizontal shield stripes, but this has been long worn into the overall complexion. A green sticker from CAC confirms the superior quality. 1803 is the final year that these large Draped Bust dollars were produced. Although a trickle of dollars continued to emerge from the Mint in 1804 and 1805, these were all believed to be dated 1803. On the Large 3 obverse used for the BB-255 variety, offered here, the 3 is repunched low and this is diagnostic to identify the die. From the Bimyway Collection.
