1947-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar. MS-67 (PCGS). CAC. An autumnal medley of olive-gold, crimson and emerald toning overlays both sides with the patina more extensive on the reverse. Pearly silver luster shines forth and both sides display razor sharp to full striking detail. A delight to behold, and worthy of the strongest bids.<p>Although plentiful in an absolute sense, this final Denver Mint Walking Liberty half dollar issue is rare in the finest Mint State grades. It is also the only mintmarked issue of this date, as the San Francisco Mint suspended half dollar production after 1946 and did not resume until 1949, the second year of the Franklin series. Of the 3,900,600 pieces struck for the 1947-D, the present example is one of the very finest certified. PCGS reports only 16 grading events finer in MS-67+; the CAC sticker confirms the superior nature of this piece at the MS-67 level.
