1787 Fugio Copper. Pointed Rays. Newman 8-B, W-6740. Rarity-3. UNITED STATES, 4 Cinquefoils. AU-50 (PCGS). 161.0 grains. An impressive Near Mint survivor sporting a strong, well centered strike. Boldly defined detail throughout save for modest strike weakness at the lower left obverse border and opposing reverse. Deep reddish-brown surfaces that are well preserved and free from marks, roughness, and planchet flaws. Both sides retain subtle traces of mint frost. An appealing example of the UNITED STATES Red Book variety or overall Fugio type. From the Norman G. Peters Collection.
