1909 U.S. Volunteer Life Saving Corps Three-Piece Hanging Badge. Bronze. Extremely Fine. 31 mm x 80 mm. An intricate badge with plenty of turn of the century charm featuring a pinback hanger surmounted by a spread wing eagle with the name of the recipient, FRANK J. COOPER, above a rescue scene, inscriptions PRESENTED TO above and FOR SAVING FROM DROWNING below the scene. Suspended from that is a figural piece of a rescue team in a rowboat attending to a victim. The lowest part of the badge is comprised of the U.S. Volunteer Life Saving Corps logo, the back inscribed NEW YORK BAY / N.Y. / SEPT 5 1909.
