Framed Set of (7) Medal Electrotypes Awarded to Charles P. Gruppe. By Medallic Art Company.Included are a total of (14) bronze electrotypes housed in a black wooden frame measuring 14.75 x 16.75 inches and secured by individual screws. The obverse and reverse of seven medals are displayed, along with a plaque at the bottom identifying these as medals awarded to Charles Paul Gruppe, a Canadian-born American painter who was one of the founders of the Rochester Art Club and whose work is included in such institutions as The Smithsonian Art Museum. The electrotypes themselves were accomplished by the famed Medallic Art Company whose makers mark is secured to the back of the frame. Six of the medals have an engraved reverse.Medals included are: Louisiana Purchase Exposition Silver Award; Society of the Friends of the Arts of Rouen; 1903 Exposition of Paris-Province; The Art Club of Philadelphia; Appalachian Exposition, Knoxville Tennessee; 1903 Literary and Artistic Academy Paris Province; and 1902 American Art Society.A very well made set of electrotypes in essentially as-made condition. The frame shows some signs of wear and there is one 1/2 inch scratch in the glass, but it is still quite presentable and would make a lovely display in a numismatic study.
