MEXICO. 2 Escudos, 1790-Mo FM. Mexico City Mint. Charles IV. NGC AU Details--Reverse Scratched. Fr-39; KM-131; Cal-Type 143 # 1322; Cayon-14154; Grove-1654. Transitional bust type. The only certified example of the date listed on either the NGC or PCGS population reports. An EXTREMELY RARE denomination of this short lived two year type with the bust of Charles III, but in the name of Charles IV that seldom appears on the open market. Light signs of handling consistent for the grade with plenty of remaining luster and flash offering a pleasing appearance. A couple of light scratches on the reverse account for the details designation hardly distracting for this elusive issue. Despite its shortcomings a handsome survivor with a good look destined for an advanced collection of Mexican gold. From the Las Colinas Collection.
