This boldly struck and attractive survivor exhibiting lustrous surfaces with frosted well defined devices displays a pleasing appearance with an attractive pale golden color. These issues offer much character telling an interesting story sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters. A "louis dor" struck at Paris for Louis XIII as part of the coinage reform of 1640 which attempted to supersede hammered coinage with milled coinage.</em>
