Obverse: Exterior view of the basilica from the southwest; Reverse: Interior view with a sightline down the nave, from an eyepoint located west of the choir and to the right side of the central aisle. Charming chestnut brown surfaces with a pleasing array of underlying luster in the fields. Some very light scratches to the far right of the cathedral on the obverse are noted, however.<p><em>With earlier forms of the structure falling victim to fire--</em>a typical culprit in the destruction of churches<em>--St. Mark s, a mix of Italo-Byzantine and Gothic, was rebuilt multiple times, with the current edifice being consecrated in 1117. </em> From the Richard Jewell Collection.<p>Ex.
