1853-GG Round 25¢. Liberty Head. BG-218. Rarity-7. UNC Details--Scratch (PCGS). A green-gold Uncirculated example that, unfortunately displays a few small scratches in the reverse field, as indicated by PCGS on the holder. The semi-prooflike surfaces are otherwise smooth, and free of noticeable contact. The obverse die also coined BG-217; the reverse die is unique to BG-218 and features a misaligned 1/4 fraction over crudely engraved DOLLAR, and the date, 1853, aligned slightly to the right. The GG initials beneath the bust represent Gaime, Guillemot & Co. All varieties by that firm are rare. According to PCGS, only 8-10 pieces are known.
