MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Philip III, 323-317 B.C. AR Drachm, Sardes Mint, ca. 322-319/8 B.C. NGC AU. Pr-P99; HGC-3.1, 974g. Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Zeus seated left on throne, holding scepter and eagle; torch in left field; TI below throne. A rather well centered and well struck piece, presenting a good deal of lustrous brilliance remaining. A die crack around the torch gives it an almost cornucopia-like shape on this particular example.
