Issued by decree of 13 October 1828. Type I Manila Overstrike, with serrated boarders and reverse legend; dies prepared by Don Benito de los Reyes. Overstruck on an 1828-CUZCO G Peru Republic 8 Reales. A strongRARE/strong host coin in strongEXTREMELY/strong strongRARE/strong state of preservation. "MANILA" and date fully struck up with dot between, remnants of serrated boarder between 11 oclock and 3 oclock; Reverse: Crowned arms of Spain nearly fully struck up with faint portions of the legend from 8 oclock to about 10 oclock and small portion of the serrated boarder from about 9 oclock to about 12 oclock. Overstrike uneven and of typical weak peripheral strike leaving much of the under type still visible. Clear host date, assayers letter, denomination, mintmark and nearly full legends on both obverse and reverse with other portions of the host design aspects. Unusually nice quality with sharp details on obverse and reverse.
