GERMANY. Hohenlohe-Kirchberg. Taler, 1737-W-N. Friedrich Eberhard. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield.Dav-2357; KM-5. Issued on the death of the count. An amazing survivor of this RARE type, produced with obvious special care, and as a result, possessing exceptional detail and relief in the designs on both sides as well as strong mirror-like reflectivity in the fields. Adding to its already exceptional appearance is a compliment of intense rainbow-hued tone that circles most of the legends on both sides, serving as a beautiful frame for the lightly toned centers. Obviously a sister-coin with the next lot in this sale (Dav-2355), as both display nearly identical toning patterns, which all but confirm theyve been together for decades if not much longer. A special double-opportunity as such.A few Talers and 1/2 Talers represent the entire eighteenth century coinage of this tiny state, which was promoted from county to principality in 1764 and mediatized in 1806.From the Linda Collection.Ex: Peus 301 (5/1981) Lot #1749.
