Undated Liberty Head eagle fashioned into a pendant for the Erie Railroad Director, 1896.Looped for suspension. The obverse of the eagle has been planed away except for the stars, inverted, and the inscription ERIE RAILROAD / 1896 / DIRECTOR applied in blue paint (?). The reverse of the eagle has been left unchanged, both sides polished for use as jewelry. The Erie Railroad was last in a line of railways that began with the chartering of the New York and Erie Rail Road on April 24, 1832. It was named the Erie Railroad from 1895 through its merger with the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad in 1960 to form the Erie Lackawanna Railroad.
