A pair of this vignette design by Smillie with partial counter lower left. India paper die sunk to card. Similar to Hessler 987, page 180 in the second edition. Similar to Caine I: 4099, but in vastly superior condition. Different versions in the details; visible penciling for new details to be added. One has partial counter. The first die sunk to wide card and near Very Fine. The other is India paper only and trimmed down. Rare pair.
