Sullivan, Illinois. Pork Packers Bank. ND (18xx). Uncut Pair $3-$5. Very Fine.(IL-795 G6-G8 SENC) ABNC. An incredibly rare $3-$5 uncut pair from this occupational titled bank. Haxby lists both denominations from this bank as SENC and did not offer descriptions for either type. The reference states that circulating notes were printed but not issued to the bank and all were presumed to be destroyed. Its states that only proofs should exist. We can trace no prior offerings of notes of any type from this bank. The 1990 ABNC sale contained no proofs from this title and we have never before offered a note of any type from this bank. pBoth notes are printed in black with red denomination protectors spelled out at bottom center. Blue printed serial number 614 is displayed on each note. The $3 is seen with a unique custom vignette of pigs processed at a slaughterhouse at center. Ornate 3 die counters are in the top corners while the auditors seal is at bottom left and a girl is at bottom right. The title is at top center. The $5 depicts a large vignette of Liberty with a capped staff at left, a frontier family is seen outside their home at top center. A die counter 5 is at top right, the auditors seal is at bottom right. pThis is an incredible discovery sheet featuring two types no doubt missing from most if not all collections. Each note is boldly printed in sharp inks. The overprints are vibrant. The paper is mostly crisp but seen with some heavier creasing from handling. Still it faces up quite well and is a numismatic treat to behold.
