1785 Connecticut Copper. Miller 3.4-F.1, W-2340. Rarity-3. Mailed Bust Right. VF-30 (PCGS).150.5 grains. Light steel brown with lightly mottled patina. Generally smooth with light surface gloss, but gentle granularity or deposits are seen in some of the more protected areas under magnification. Off center slightly to the right on the obverse with the rim faded into the field from about 12:00 to 6:00, though the legend is unaffected. The reverse is a bit better centered with just the bases of the date digits compromised by the rim. Very pleasing overall and nice for the variety or type. From the Twin Leaf Collection of Connecticut & Massachusetts Coppers. Earlier ex Seventh Annual C4 Convention sale, November 2001:88.
