1929-D Buffalo Nickel. MS-66+ (PCGS).This is a sharply struck, exceptionally well preserved example of the otherwise relatively obtainable 1929-D nickel. Both sides exhibit a smooth satin texture with splashes of handsome copper-russet patina along the upper obverse and lower reverse borders. As one of the more frequently encountered Denver Mint Buffalo nickels from the 1920s, the 1929-D is popular with mintmarked type collectors seeking to avoid the truly common issues in this series such as the 1938-D. At the uppermost reaches of Gem Mint State, however, this issue is rare and would do equally well in an advanced type collection or high quality date set.
