1922-S Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle. MS-63 (PCGS).Lively mint luster blends with vivid orange-gold patina on both sides of this bold and beautiful example. The 1922-S is the most readily obtainable San Francisco Mint double eagle from the 1920s and 1930s, due to the fact that several thousand examples were shipped overseas in the years prior to 1937. Although 1,500 or more of those coins have been repatriated since the end of World War Two, this issue is still scarce when viewed in the wider context of the Saint-Gaudens series.
