1652 Pine Tree Shilling. Large Planchet. Noe-2, Salmon 2-C, W-700. Rarity-4. Without Pellets at Trunk. Fine-12 (ANACS).An obviously sea salvaged piece, the surfaces are overall rough and granular, both sides predominantly bright silver from having been cleaned to remove encrustation. Some of the encrustation remains on the reverse, especially along the right border. The border is through the tops of the letters on both sides. The boldest detail is evident in the center of the reverse where the date 1652 and denomination XII are clear. For the obverse, some of the details in the tree are discernible. The popular Straight Tree variety of the Large Planchet Pine Tree shilling, the present example of additional desirability due to having been salvaged from the wreck of H.B.M.S. <em>Feversham</em> which sunk off the coast of Scatari Island, Cape Breton in 1711. Accompanied by an index card on which is typed a note dated January 19, 1989 signed by Barry (?) Gross and Lenora M.
