Lamar, Arkansas. $10 1929 Ty. 1. Fr. 1801-1. The First NB. Charter #12238. PMG Choice Fine 15 Net.According to the national bank note census, this is just the second small size note to come forward from this rare Johnson County issuer that has just four large notes reported. However, it is important to point out that the only other 1929 recorded in the census is listed with a serial number of 5400. It also has no auction result. No more than 150 sheets of any denomination were printed for Lamar. In fact, a mere 1,302 notes were printed for the entire charter before it closed in 1930. Given the erroneous serial number, it is very likely the note in the census does not actually exist, and this offering is in fact the unique small size survivor. The First National Bank was Lamars lone note issuing bank, issuing $101,700 in both large and small size notes before being liquidated in April of 1930. The grading service cites a tape repair in their Net grade. There is also a small portion of the left margin absent. Again though, condition isnt terribly important if we are dealing with a one of one situation here.
