Serial Number 3.The Napier - Thompson signature combination is highly scarce with any design it is found on and these 1899 Silver Certificates are no exception. Under 100 examples are known in all grades and these low number notes make up a large portion of the population. The serial number one note is known and was last sold in our 2008 sale where it brought $41,400. The number two note is not known to current census information and this H3 piece has been tucked away in a private collection since it last sold publicly in a September 2004 sale where it brought $9,400. The quality is simply outstanding with great care being given to the note throughout its over 100 year existence. Nice embossing, sharp inks and great centering all contribute to the lofty Gem grade assigned by PMG.
