Produced in generous numbers (2,324,440 circulation strikes), the 1882 is one of the most plentiful Liberty Head eagles in terms of total number of coins extant. A fair percentage of the mintage found its way overseas in international transactions, repatriations in recent decades providing a sizeable population of Uncirculated coins for todays gold type and date collectors.
