ITALY. Venice. Zecchino, ND. Giovanni Bembo (1615-18). NGC MS-64.Fr-1284; KM-75; Paolucci 83/1. Sharply struck and lustrous, with little handling of significance over the surfaces and one small die flaw of note in front of the Doges face. A rare type that is VERY RARE in this quality; the finest graded as well. Historically, Bembo immediately succeeded Marcantonio Memmo (whose zecchino we are also presenting in this sale) and is responsible for crushing the Uskoks pirates who were infesting the Adriatic.NGC MS-64.
