Escallop mint mark (incorrectly labeled as "Rose" on the slab insert). <strong>VERY RARE</strong> in this state of preservation. King seated on throne holding orb and scepter; portcullis at feet. Reverse exhibits square topped shield on rose. An interesting type, similar in style to a Fine Sovereign from the Tudor series. Signs of circulation consistent for the grade. Well struck with typical detail on kings face with all other design features clear without the aid of magnification. Abundant luster in the peripheral devices and across much of the reverse. Well centered with fully visible legends both sides. Lovely honey gold tone throughout with good eye appeal. A terrific example destine for a fine cabinet.NGC AU-55.
