1851 Liberty Head Double Eagle. Repunched Date. AU-55 (PCGS). CAC.This richly original example is bathed in honey-orange patina. Boldly, if not sharply defined over all design elements with ample mint luster remaining. An overall smooth, uncommonly well preserved coin in a circulated 1851 double eagle, most such pieces encountered in todays market grading VF or EF. The Repunched Date feature adds further appeal, a loupe revealing repunching on all four digits in the date. From the Fairmont Collection.
