1848 Zachary Taylor. DeWitt-ZT 1848-13. (NGC: 1848-15). Silver. 31 mm. MS-62 (NGC).,Deeply toned surfaces have gold, rosy orange and pale blue dominating both sides while deep gray silver remains on the high points. Scattered handling and a bit soft on the high points. The Sullivan reference is a little unclear about this attribution, and we generally identify this type as 1848-13, where Sullivan notes that the obverse legend is mistakenly noted with a "ZACK" spelling. It is clearly spelled with a "K" on this die, however, while the 1848-15 die features the name corrected to ZACH. NGC gives this type the 1848-15 number. Likely very rare in silver. John Ford did not have this variety or any of those related to it in this composition.,From the Brian Dobbins Collection of American Political Tokens. Earlier ex Al Anderson, May 1984, lot B-4.,
