1848 Zachary Taylor. DeWitt-ZT 1848-3. Copper. 41 mm. MS-66 BN (NGC).,An incredibly attractive Gem example with surfaces toned faded tan and chocolate brown while pale blue and green iridescence accents both sides. Sharply and boldly prooflike with virtually no handling marks. One thin mark across Taylors face is an imperfection in the planchet and is as made. Just 25 are believed to have been struck in copper, and this one is considerably more attractive than the piece in the Ford Collection that brought $528 in an NGC MS-65 holder.,From the Brian Dobbins Collection of American Political Tokens. Earlier ex NASCA, June 1980, lot 1326.,
