1840 William Henry Harrison. DeWitt-WHH 1840-4. Silver. Original. 42.7 mm. MS-62 (NGC).,This is a lovely medal with strong prooflike reflectivity in the fields and nice original toning that is deepest at the peripheries and around the devices. The obverse exhibits deep blue, gray and russet, while the reverse is more delicately toned in the same hues. Very attractive and nicely struck with a high relief portrait. Another product from the shop of Francis Mitchell of Boston. This is known to have been restruck in limited quantities as of November 1862, but the offered piece is an original without die rust on the portrait as seen on the white metal example in the following lot. Only eight silver restrikes were reported to have been made, and this original might be even rarer. Another example appeared in the Ford sale and brought just under $1,300 in 2013. This example has been off the market since 1982.<p>,From the Brian Dobbins Collection of American Political Tokens. Earlier ex Al Anderson, November 1982, lot B-21.,
