Lot 100 ARAB-SASANIAN: Anonymous Khusro type, ca. 700/701, AR drachm 404.08g41, SK 40Sijistan41, AH81, A-38N, pellet after bism Allah on obverse and after mint name SK on reverse, fine style, similar to issues of 39Abd al-Rahman also dated AH81, some light adhesions in obverse margin, EF, RRR. In AH81, 39Abd al-Rahman b. Muhammad marched westward, seizing Kirman and Fars provinces, but was ultimately defeated by al-Hajjaj b. Yusuf and forced to flee back to Sijistan in AH82. This type was probably issued somewhere in Sijistan by local authorities who rebelled against 39Abd al-Rahman, perhaps seeking power during his absence.
